The Day of the Run

Tuesday, April 11th RUN FOR THE ARTS (April 12th – Make up if rained out on the 11th)

Each runner should have a 3×5 card to mark tallies on.  Please arrange for one or two adults to help with marking laps.   NOTE – ALL LAPS RUN DURING THE RFA WILL BE APPLIED TO EACH STUDENT’S 100 MILE CLUB/MILEAGE CLUB TOTAL.  Please remember to turn in the 3×5 cards to me so I can give them credit.  Be sure teachers name is on the card.

STARTING SPOT:  Each class will start at a the cone or gold medal dot (painted on the blacktop) of their choice.  It is best to start in an area that is away from the other classes running.  We don’t want all classes to start running in the same area.   Remind your students to start out slow.  They will want to sprint at the beginning which of course will most likely result in a few kids falling down.

30 MINUTE TIMER:  You will be starting and stopping the run on your own.  I will be unavailable during your run times.

This year we will use the 1/4 mile “100 Mile Club Track”.   Each lap counts as one lap for the scoresheet.  I would suggest that K/1 do the 1/8 mile track on the blacktop.  Two laps count as one official lap on the score sheet.  Just divide their total laps by two.

If the field is too wet, we will use the 1/8 mile “100 Mile Club Track”.  On the 1/8 track, two laps around the course counts as one lap towards their points on the sponsor sheet. ie.  20 laps on our  1/8 mile “100 Mile Club Track”  counts as 10 laps on the sponsor sheet. Divide the number of laps run by 2 and that is their total.
